Excellent homebuilding experience from start to finish!
This was our first time building a home, and the fact that it was a custom home versus a tract home could have made it super stressful; however, I would rate everything from the first contact with the salesperson to our experiences with the owner or the whole team all the way up to closing as an A+++ experience.
The team was open-minded, listened to our wishes, professional, creative, and willing to assist with any changes we made along the way.
The owner is extremely knowledgeable which allowed us to remain confident in his ideas and his work.
The team was always easy to reach with just a phone call or email, including the owner himself.
Overall, incredible experience!

Matt, Kimberli, and Barry were a joy to work with, and the job was done within six months. Covid was the only negative in the mix. I want to let you know about our experience with Matt Walls of Winston Homes. Really, things could not have gone more smoothly with our home build.
He is very easy to work with in terms of getting a well designed home plan, bringing both his experience and creative thinking to the process. He has a lot of expertise in assessing the lot including drainage issues, site prep, and situating the house properly to meet all the requirements such as easements. He is skilled at dealing with the various city permit processes and inspectors. This is actually a big part of a build process and can determine how quickly things get done.
One of the things we appreciated the most is how good he was at the project management side of things. He was very efficient at getting subcontractors onsite to do the work, and they worked back to back, so there were almost no delays. Watching other homes being built here and the many delays we see, this makes a tremendous difference in how soon you get to live in your dream home. He checks on the site progress very regularly and sends updates frequently.
Another thing that stood out to us is the quality of workmanship and materials he insisted on. The kitchen cabinet maker he chose for our home did excellent work which made our kitchen really look high-end. The trim work on the inside was done very well despite lots of angles. The wood floor is beautiful, and literally every person who has entered our home has commented on the beauty of the wood beams we had installed in the great room. Even the outside light fixture is elegant. We also felt the brick work was done very well, and even the sod was laid very smoothly. I found Matt to be very flexible and accommodating in meeting our needs in terms of finish out and upgrades. It is nice to live in a home knowing that everything was done right and to a high standard.
We have talked to other neighbors and found that their build process was stressful, well I can tell you that ours was not stressful at all. Matt is very easy to contact and responds very quickly, moreso than any professional I have ever worked with. We are so pleased with our beautiful home.
